Baseball Glove Colors: 7 Colorways Checked Against Rulebooks (2026)

The color rules in baseball gloves are mostly about pitchers. MLB, the NCAA and Diamond Youth Baseball bar a white or gray pitcher’s glove, exclusive of piping, and Little League says white or light gray. MLB’s rule 3.07(a) also limits the color of any fielder’s glove by a Pantone series. We list seven fielding gloves in brown, camel, tan and red, navy and mint, and black colorways, priced $69.97 to $149.99 on October 10, 2026. We haven’t tested any glove, so we report rules and listings.
Searching for the best baseball glove colors turns up lists of colorful gloves. We read the rulebooks themselves and the maker pages, and kept to what they say.
For position picks, see our pitcher glove guide and infield glove guide.
- →MLB rule 3.07(a), NCAA rule 1-13-d and Diamond Youth Baseball rule 1.14 bar a white or gray pitcher’s glove, exclusive of piping. Little League says white or light gray.
- →MLB’s rule 3.07(a) also says no fielder may use a glove within a Pantone color set lighter than the current 14-series. MLB’s rule 3.06 on fielding gloves has no color clause.
- →Every rulebook we read leaves the word distracting to the umpire’s judgment.
- →We couldn’t read the NFHS, PONY or USSSA rules, and the Babe Ruth text we read is the 2018 edition, so we say nothing about them beyond that.
- →We checked colorway names only, not laces, webs or stitching, so we don’t call any glove legal for pitchers.

Baseball glove colors: what the rulebooks say
These are the rule texts. See MLB’s 2026 rules, the NCAA rules book, Little League’s FAQ and its 2023 manual, Diamond Youth Baseball’s 2026 rules and the 2018 Babe Ruth edition.
Fielders and pitchers
MLB’s rule 3.06 on fielding gloves says each fielder other than the catcher may use a leather glove, and has no color clause. The color language sits in rule 3.07, which is titled for the pitcher’s glove. Its (a) part has a second sentence: no fielder, regardless of position, may use a fielding glove that falls within a Pantone color set lighter than the current 14-series. The rulebook doesn’t explain the series, so we don’t either.
Who decides what is distracting
Every rulebook above bars a pitcher’s glove that is, in the judgment of an umpire, distracting. None lists which colors count, so a glove that is not white or gray can still be challenged. MLB’s rule 3.07(c) says the umpire-in-chief removes a violating glove from the game, on his own initiative, on another umpire’s recommendation, or on a complaint from the opposing manager that he agrees has merit. The NCAA gives a violator reasonable time to correct it, then ejection. Diamond Youth Baseball says the illegal equipment must be removed.
Trim, piping and batting gloves
The white and gray bars are written exclusive of piping. Diamond Youth Baseball adds that a pitcher’s glove may be of a contrasting color, including all stitching, lacing and webbing. MLB’s rule 3.07(b) and Little League’s rule 1.15(b) bar a pitcher from attaching foreign material of a different color to the glove. Little League’s 2023 manual also says a pitcher’s batting glove worn under the glove can’t be white, gray or optic yellow. The MLB text we read has no solid-color or two-tone rule for gloves (its solid-color rule covers exposed undershirts), so we don’t state one for gloves.

Seven baseball gloves by colorway, October 10, 2026
The hand matters when you buy. Amazon’s listing for the Franklin Field Master Midnight Series glove, ASIN B075RXLH44, says a right hand throw glove is worn on the left hand, and a left hand throw glove on the right. For the Rawlings R9 Sherry and the Mizuno Tan and Red we also list a left hand throw Amazon.com listing. For the other gloves we found one hand on Amazon.com.
The seven gloves
1. Rawlings Player Preferred 12 inch in Dark Brown

Rawlings’ page lists the color as Dark Brown, a quality full-grain leather shell, a Basket web, a Velcro strap back and an age group of Adult Recreational, at $72.24. The right hand throw version was $72.24 on Amazon on October 10, 2026. Amazon’s color attribute reads Basket Web and Brown, while Rawlings says Dark Brown. We found no 12 inch left hand throw Amazon.com listing for it, and Rawlings’ page shows a left hand option marked unavailable.
2. Rawlings R9 12 inch in Sherry

Rawlings’ R9 page lists the color as Sherry, a soft, durable all-leather shell, a 2-Piece Solid web and an age group of High School, 14U, 12U and 10U, with a Player Break-In figure of 20, without a unit. Sherry is Rawlings’ name for the color, so we use its wording. The right hand throw version was $149.99 on October 10, 2026, and the left hand throw version was also $149.99.
3. Rawlings Select Pro Lite Bryce Harper 12 inch in Camel

Rawlings’ page lists the color as Camel, a Youth Pro Taper fit, a lightweight soft leather shell and a Pro H web. Amazon’s color attribute reads Camel and Scarlet, which Rawlings’ page doesn’t. Rawlings’ page showed the glove out of stock on October 10, 2026, while Amazon had it. The right hand throw version was $74.99 and the left hand throw version was $69.97.
4. Mizuno Prospect Select 11 inch in Tan and Red

Mizuno’s page lists this glove in a tan and red colorway for right and left hand throwers, at $75.00, and describes a full grain leather glove with a ButterSoft palm liner. Mizuno’s page showed it out of stock on October 10, 2026, while Amazon had it. The right hand throw version was $70.00. The left hand throw version was $74.99.
5. Mizuno Prospect Select 11 inch in Black and Brown

Mizuno’s page lists a Black-Brown color, a full grain leather shell and a ButterSoft palm liner, at $75.00 in stock. The right hand throw version was $74.99 on October 10, 2026. It is two-toned. The MLB and NCAA text we read has no two-tone rule, and Diamond Youth Baseball’s rule 1.14(a) says a pitcher’s glove may be of a contrasting color, so check your league. We don’t call it legal or illegal for a pitcher.
6. Rawlings R9 11.75 inch in Navy and Mint

Rawlings’ page lists the color as Navy and Mint, with a Modified Trap-Eze web, an age group of High School, 14U, 12U and 10U, a Player Break-In figure of 20 and copy that calls it a striking colorway. A second left hand throw listing for the Harper, B0H5XWJHM7, was $74.99 on Amazon.com, so check the color wording on the listing you open. It is the only glove here where we checked a Rawlings page for each hand. The right hand throw version was $146.82 on October 10, 2026 and the left hand throw version was $147.54.
7. Rawlings R9 ContoUR 11 inch youth in Black and Mint

Rawlings’ page lists the color as Black and Mint, a ContoUR fit, Level: Youth, a Pro I web and an age group of 14U, 12U, 10U and 8U. Its copy says the ContoUR Fit has a smaller hand opening and fits tighter and closes easier. The Amazon listing was $149.99 on October 10, 2026.
What to skip
Skip any glove whose colorway name includes white or gray if a pitcher will use it, such as a red, white and blue version, because the rulebooks bar white and gray on a pitcher’s glove. We could only compare names, so check the laces, web and any added material too. Skip batting gloves and glove accessories in a list of glove colors: they are different products. And skip any claim that a color improves play, hides dirt or lasts longer, because none of the sources we read says so.

How we checked this guide
We read MLB’s 2026 rules, the NCAA rules book, Little League’s FAQ and a 2023 Little League manual, Diamond Youth Baseball’s 2026 rules and the 2018 Babe Ruth rules, then Rawlings’ and Mizuno’s pages and Amazon’s product data, all on October 10, 2026. We couldn’t read the NFHS, PONY or USSSA rules, so we say nothing about them. The Little League manual we read is from 2023, so check your league’s current rules. We did not test any glove, so we don’t say how any of them looks or plays. Prices and stock change daily.
Frequently asked questions
Can a pitcher wear a white or gray baseball glove?
Not under the rulebooks we read. MLB’s rule 3.07(a) says the pitcher’s glove may not, exclusive of piping, be white or gray, and NCAA rule 1-13-d says the same. Little League’s FAQ says white or light gray, and Diamond Youth Baseball’s rule 1.14 says white or gray. We couldn’t read the NFHS, PONY or USSSA rules.
Can fielders, catchers and first basemen use any color?
The pitcher restriction applies to pitchers. MLB’s rule on fielding gloves, 3.06, has no color clause, but 3.07(a) also says no fielder, regardless of position, may use a fielding glove that falls within a Pantone color set lighter than the current 14-series. The rulebook doesn’t explain the series, so check your league.
Why does Little League say light gray?
Little League’s FAQ says pitchers are not permitted to wear, exclusive of piping, a glove that is white or light gray, and its 2023 manual’s rule 1.15(a) says the same. MLB, the NCAA and Diamond Youth Baseball say gray without the word light. We found no explanation of the difference.
What counts as distracting, and who decides?
MLB, the NCAA, Little League and Diamond Youth Baseball all say a pitcher’s glove may not be distracting in the judgment of an umpire. None of the rulebooks we read lists which colors count, so the umpire decides.
Does trim on the glove matter?
Each rulebook we read says white or gray is barred exclusive of piping. Diamond Youth Baseball’s rule 1.14 adds that a pitcher’s glove may be of a contrasting color, including all stitching, lacing and webbing. MLB and Little League bar attaching foreign material of a different color to a pitcher’s glove. We checked the colorway names of the gloves here, not their laces or webs.
What happens if a pitcher uses an illegal glove?
MLB’s rule 3.07(c) says the umpire-in-chief causes a glove that violates the rule to be removed from the game. The NCAA gives a violator reasonable time to correct it, then ejection. Diamond Youth Baseball says the illegal equipment must be removed from the game.
Can a pitcher wear a batting glove under the glove?
Little League’s 2023 manual, rule 1.15(b), says the pitcher may wear a batting glove on the non-pitching hand under the pitcher’s glove, provided the batting glove is not white, gray or optic yellow. We didn’t find a matching line in the MLB rules text we read.
What does right hand throw mean when buying a glove?
A right hand throw glove is worn on the left hand, and a left hand throw glove on the right. Franklin’s Field Master listings on Amazon, for example ASIN B075RXLH44, state it, so check the hand on each listing before you buy.
