Baseball gloves for big hands: what makers publish about fit and seven adult gloves, checked October 9, 2026
⚡ Quick Answer

No baseball glove maker we could read publishes a glove size rule for big hands. Rawlings sizes adult gloves by position, 11.25 to 12 inches for infield and 12 to 12.75 inches for outfield, and lists its Sandlot, Player Preferred and Renegade gloves as standard fit. We list seven adult baseball gloves from 11.75 to 12.75 inches, priced from $37.99 to $90 on October 9, 2026. We haven’t tested any glove, so we report what the makers and listings state.

Searching for baseball gloves for big hands turns up position roundups, size charts and a lot of confident rules about hand length. We looked for the source of those rules among the makers we could read, and found none. This guide says what Rawlings and Mizuno publish, what they don’t, and which adult gloves are available in the larger sizes with the throwing hand and price checked.

If your hands are on the smaller side instead, see our small hands glove guide. For general adult picks, see our adult baseball gloves guide and adult glove size guide.

Key takeaways
  • →Rawlings’ size chart is by age and position, not by hand width: adult infield 11.25 to 12 inches, outfield 12 to 12.75 inches, first base 12 to 13 inches.
  • →Rawlings lists the Sandlot, Player Preferred and Renegade as Fit: Standard. The only hand-fit lines we found on its pages are for smaller hands.
  • →Rawlings lists the 13 inch Renegade as a softball glove, even though the Amazon listing says baseball and softball.
  • →Franklin’s maker pages were blocked and Wilson’s wouldn’t load, so Franklin facts here are Amazon listing text only and we say nothing about Wilson.
  • →Amazon links here are one glove and one size each, with the throwing hand named where the listing states it. Check the hand before you buy.

What makers say about hand size in baseball gloves

Rawlings’ chart on its sizing page is titled as a general guide for determining which glove size an athlete needs. It runs by age and position. Ages 12 and up: infield 11.25 to 12 inches, outfield 12 to 12.75 inches, first base 12 to 13 inches. Rawlings’ hand-length measurement, from the base of the palm to the top of the middle finger, appears only on its batting glove charts, not on the fielding glove chart.

Source: Rawlings’ sizing page, October 9, 2026. Rawlings calls it a general guide, by age and position.

The fit labels in Rawlings’ spec tables tell you more. Every adult glove we opened, the Sandlot, Player Preferred and Renegade, lists Fit: Standard and Level: Adult. On Rawlings’ R9 page, the ContoUR Fit has a smaller hand opening and lowered finger stalls for youth players with smaller hands. On its Heart of the Hide page, it gives players with thinner hands a more secure hand opening and lowered finger stalls.

The Youth Pro Taper is a youth fit line. We found no Rawlings fit line described for larger hands, though we could not read its custom glove builder, which is a script-driven page.

Mizuno’s Franchise product pages list materials and features but no hand, fit or break-in data. Wilson’s baseball pages returned a rate-limit error (HTTP 429), Franklin’s pages returned an access error, and we didn’t open Easton or Louisville Slugger. In short, the makers we could read publish no large-hand rule, and any hand-measurement chart you find elsewhere is the publisher’s own.

⚠️ Watch out: Treat any chart that maps your hand length to a glove size as unsourced unless it names a maker. Rawlings’ fielding glove chart doesn’t use hand length at all.

Source: Rawlings’ pages for each Sandlot item, October 9, 2026. Rawlings states no hand-size information for any of them.

This answers the Sandlot question people search for. Rawlings sells the series in five sizes from 11.5 to 12.75 inches, and every one is labelled adult and standard fit. Rawlings lists the same Player Break-In figure, 20, on the 12.75, 12 and 11.75 inch pages. The 12.5 inch first base mitt is a different kind of glove, built for the position, so we don’t list it as a pick.

The seven gloves

1. Rawlings Sandlot 12.75 inch: the longest adult Sandlot

Rawlings Sandlot 12.75 inch Pro H web baseball glove
The Rawlings Sandlot 12.75 inch (Amazon product photo).

Rawlings’ page for the Sandlot 12.75 inch lists a Pro H web, Fit: Standard, Level: Adult, a conventional back, full-grain oiled shell leather and Zero Shock palm pads, with a Player Break-In figure of 20. 12.75 inches is the top of the range Rawlings lists for adult outfield gloves. Rawlings describes the series as oiled pull-up leather with a vintage look and minimal break-in required. The right hand throw version was $84.95 on Amazon on October 9, and the left hand throw version was $64.20. The two listings show the same product photo.

2. Rawlings Sandlot 12 inch: the top of the adult infield range

Rawlings Sandlot 12 inch Basket web baseball glove
The Rawlings Sandlot 12 inch (Amazon product photo).

The Sandlot 12 inch is a Basket web, Fit: Standard, Level: Adult, with a Player Break-In of 20. Twelve inches is the top of Rawlings’ adult infield range of 11.25 to 12 inches, and it also falls in the adult outfield range. The right hand throw version was $79.47 on Amazon on October 9. We found no left hand throw Amazon listing for it.

3. Rawlings Sandlot 11.75 inch: for infielders

Rawlings Sandlot 11.75 inch Modified Trap-Eze baseball glove
The Rawlings Sandlot 11.75 inch (Amazon product photo).

The Sandlot 11.75 inch has a Modified Trap-Eze web, Fit: Standard, Level: Adult and a Player Break-In of 20. It falls inside Rawlings’ adult infield range. The right hand throw version was $70.00 on Amazon on October 9, and the left hand throw version was $79.95, though its listing title is a mix of text and mentions a burgundy color.

4. Rawlings Player Preferred 12.5 inch: with an adjustable back

Rawlings Player Preferred 12.5 inch baseball glove
The Rawlings Player Preferred 12.5 inch (Amazon product photo).

Rawlings’ Player Preferred 12.5 inch page, for the left hand throw outfield version, lists a Basket web, Fit: Standard, Level: Adult, Sport: Baseball, a Velcro strap back, a Player Break-In of 20 and an age group of adult recreational. Rawlings describes the series as designed for recreational players of various ages and skill levels, with full-grain oiled leather shells for easy and quick break-in.

The right hand throw version on Amazon is listed with a Pro H web, not a Basket web, and was $72.24 on October 9. The left hand throw Basket version was also $72.24, and it matches Rawlings’ page. We couldn’t match the right hand Pro H listing to a Rawlings item number, so check the web on the listing.

5. Mizuno Franchise 12.5 inch: the one with no fit data

Mizuno Franchise 12.5 inch H web baseball glove
The Mizuno Franchise 12.5 inch (Amazon product photo).

Mizuno lists the Franchise 12.5 inch at $90.00, with a full grain leather shell, laced binding, ParaShock palm pad, MZO lining and HiLo lacing. The page gives no hand, fit or break-in data. Mizuno offers it for right and left hand throwers. On Amazon, one listing and another have identical titles, $90.00 each. Their part numbers match Mizuno’s right hand (R981) and left hand (F981) color codes, so we read them as right and left, but the titles don’t say.

6. Franklin RTP Pro 12.5 inch: the lowest-priced leather glove here

Franklin Sports RTP Pro 12.5 inch pigskin baseball glove
The Franklin RTP Pro 12.5 inch (Amazon product photo).

The Franklin RTP Pro 12.5 inch was $37.99 on Amazon on October 9. The listing describes pigskin leather and a Basket web, which it calls the perfect choice for any position. Franklin’s own page returned an access error, so this is listing text only, and the listing doesn’t state the throwing hand. A 12 inch Trapeze web version was $49.99.

7. Franklin CTZ5000 12.5 inch: an outfield H-Web

Franklin Sports CTZ5000 12.5 inch H-Web outfield baseball glove
The Franklin CTZ5000 12.5 inch (Amazon product photo).

The Franklin CTZ5000 was $77.60 on Amazon on October 9. Its title calls it a black cowhide outfield glove with a 12.5 inch H-Web for outfielders, and its bullets mention full-grain cowhide and a large H web. It is listing text only, and the throwing hand isn’t stated.

Break-in: only the numbers makers give

Rawlings’ product pages list a Player Break-In figure with no unit: 20 for the Sandlot and Player Preferred, and 10 for the Renegade. Amazon’s bullets say the Sandlot and Player Preferred arrive about 80 percent broken in from the factory, and the Renegade 90 percent factory and 10 percent player. Mizuno’s page lists no break-in number, and Franklin’s page could not be read. We don’t give a time to break in, because none of the pages we read does.

What to skip when your hands are big

Skip youth and tee-ball gloves, which are sized for younger players. Rawlings’ youth chart tops out at 12.25 inches for outfield, and its youth Pro Taper line is a youth fit. Skip training gloves such as the Rawlings Great Hands Pancake, which is a training aid and not a game glove. And skip the 13 inch Rawlings Renegade if you want a baseball glove, because Rawlings lists it as a softball glove for slow pitch and recreational play.

Checklist before buying a baseball glove for big hands: position length, adult standard fit, throwing hand, web, return policy

How we checked this guide

We read Rawlings’ sizing page and its pages for the Sandlot, Player Preferred, Renegade, ContoUR and Pro Taper gloves, Mizuno’s Franchise pages, and Amazon’s product data, all on October 9, 2026. Wilson’s baseball pages returned a rate-limit error, Franklin’s pages returned an access error, and we didn’t open Easton or Louisville Slugger, so we make no claims about them beyond Amazon listing text. We did not test any glove, so we don’t say how any of them fits or plays. Prices and stock change daily.

Frequently asked questions

What size baseball glove is best for big hands?

No maker we could read gives a rule that links hand size to glove size. Rawlings’ size chart is by age and position: for ages 12 and up, infield 11.25 to 12 inches, outfield 12 to 12.75 inches and first base 12 to 13 inches. Those are glove lengths, not hand widths, and Rawlings calls the chart a general guide.

Is the Rawlings Sandlot a good glove for adults with big hands?

Rawlings lists every Sandlot size we opened as Level: Adult and Fit: Standard, in sizes from 11.5 to 12.75 inches. Rawlings makes no statement about large hands, so whether it fits a particular hand is something you would have to check by trying one on.

What is the best infielder glove for big hands?

We can’t name one. Rawlings’ chart puts adult infield gloves at 11.25 to 12 inches, and the Sandlot 11.75 inch and 12 inch gloves fall in that range. One publisher’s roundup, BatDigest (updated May 29, 2026), lists a $300 Rawlings Heart of the Hide 11.75 inch model as best for third basemen and bigger-handed infielders, but that is one outlet’s opinion.

Which glove fit lines are made for smaller hands?

On Rawlings’ pages, the ContoUR Fit has a smaller hand opening and lowered finger stalls on an R9 youth glove, and a more secure opening and lowered stalls for thinner hands on a Heart of the Hide glove. The Youth Pro Taper is a youth fit line. We did not find a Rawlings fit line described for larger hands.

Do bigger hands need a bigger glove size?

No maker we read says so, and none of the pages we read says a longer glove also widens the hand opening or finger stalls.

Is a 13 inch glove a baseball glove?

Rawlings lists its 13 inch Renegade as a softball glove, described as ideal for slow pitch and recreational play, although the Amazon listing is titled for baseball and softball. Rawlings’ adult baseball outfield range tops out at 12.75 inches, and first base gloves go to 13.

How long does a baseball glove take to break in?

Rawlings’ pages list a Player Break-In figure of 20 for the Sandlot and Player Preferred and 10 for the Renegade, without a unit. Amazon’s bullets say the Sandlot and Player Preferred arrive about 80 percent broken in from the factory, and the Renegade 90 percent factory and 10 percent player.

Which hand does a baseball glove go on?

A right hand throw glove is worn on the left hand, and a left hand throw glove on the right. Check the throwing hand on each listing before you buy, because the Franklin listings we read don’t state it.
